Professional Counselling for Couples and Individuals
I’m a fully registered counsellor, qualified to work with a wide range of issues, I have specialist qualifications in relationships counselling and bereavement.
Getting Back on Track
Sometimes we just need somebody to listen.
Beginning therapy can be a big step toward becoming the healthiest version of yourself and living the best life possible, no matter what challenges you may be facing. It is truly life changing.
I will work collaboratively with you to help you find your own solutions, giving you more control so that your approach to feelings and behaviours becomes more constructive.
I do this by helping you to understand how past experiences shape you and your view of the world. I’m non-judgemental, calm, practical and caring. I’m qualified to work with individuals and couples.
I choose to work in places that offer complimentary approaches to health and wellbeing, rather than solely counselling environments, reflecting my opinion that you can’t have a healthy body without a healthy mind.
“In each session, I was able to talk through the difficulties I was facing with each issue and Deborah was able to help me focus on solutions and relieve the anxiety and anger I felt while coming to terms with my challenges. I always left the sessions feeling like a weight had lifted off my shoulders.”
What to Expect
Therapy (psychotherapy, or counselling – different terms for a similar thing), is the process of working with a therapist to change unhelpful behaviours and habits, resolve painful feelings, improve your relationships, and more. This is dependent on a good working relationship between therapist and client, so I work hard to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment. I’m knowledgeable and experienced, but above all I’m human.
Though no one can tell you exactly what your therapy process will be like because it is fundamentally personal, in general, we will take things at your pace as we work towards the goals we have agreed. As an integrative counsellor (one that has trained in several methods), I can adapt my way of working to suit individual needs. Together, we will review our progress and adapt as things change along the way.
“As I talked about my experiences and thoughts Deborah would occasionally ask a question or challenge an assumption I had made. By doing this I was given an alternative perspective that helped me better understand a situation. I think this is a very effective technique that I’ve applied to my everyday life.”
I can offer time limited work that is focused and goal orientated, or longer-term work where we can explore more complex issues in depth. Each session lasts 50 minutes and are preferably held weekly or fortnightly.
